30-Minute Shrimp and Scallop Pasta

This thirty-minute meal was made on a night that both my husband, Jason and I didn’t want to go the grocery store. We were hungry, and I always have a craving for a good pasta, it is my favorite dish. This is why I will never substitute pasta for veggie noodles, or bean pasta. It just isn’t worth it to me. 

You can feel free to substitute the pasta. You will just have to adjust your cook times. 

On this night we just went through the pantry and the freezer and took out what we thought would be good together and that is where this pasta was born. 

Afterwards we always cooked this pasta during a special occasion, such as, a birthday or an anniversary. And we will also cook it for guests as a fancy meal. 

My goal is to post healthy quick meals to help you cook during the week. This meal didn’t start as a thirty-minute meal, but I found a way to do it! And it still comes out just as delicious. 

Things to know about the recipe: 

Shrimp: Make sure that you buy uncooked shrimp. If you use the cooked shrimp, it will come out tasting very over cooked. Large shrimp are the best, but you could also use medium shrimp. 

Scallops: These are optional. Scallops are my 2nd favorite seafood, so I absolutely love them. They also make the dish sweet. If you leave them out, you may want to put a dash of sugar to take the acidity out of the tomatoes. 

Onions: I just love onions and the way they sweeten up a dish. But I do know a lot of people who don’t like them. I have never tried this dish without onions, but if I had no onions, I would use onion powder instead. I just couldn’t tell you that this dish would taste the same without the onions. 

Tomatoes: I always use plain diced tomatoes for this dish. If you wanted to add some spice you could try fire roasted. I prefer the simple tomatoes and the seafood to flavor my dish. 

This is just a super simple fast dinner that you could get on the table in under an hour. 

It has truly been a celebratory fancy meal in our house. However, now that I can cook it in one pot, I know I will be making it more often.

30 Minute Shrimp and Scallop Pasta

This is a quick, but fancy dinner. It is perfect for you to "wow' your guests. It is a one skillet meal and takes 30 minutes. Super easy to make, and delicious!

Total Time 35 minutes

Servings 4 people


  • 1 12-inch skillet with lid
  • 1 Measuring spoons 1 tsp, 1/2 tsp, 1/4 tsp, 1 tbsp


  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup diced onions
  • 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 5 oz angel hair pasta
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • 1 ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp minced garlic wet
  • 1 lb large shrimp raw
  • ½ lb Medium bay scallops
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 cups water


  • Heat up olive oil in a 12-inch skillet
  • Add diced onions and cook for 3-5 minutes
  • Add diced tomatoes and cook for another 7-10 minutes
  • Add shrimp, scallops and all the seasonings and stir until the seasoning is mixed in
  • Add pasta and water and make sure the pasta is under the water as much as possible.
  • Bring to a boil, once boiling lower to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat immediately to stop the pasta and seafood from overcooking
  • Mix the cornstarch with a little water and add to skillet to thicken the sauce to your desire
  • Top with parsley for garnish


If you use just shrimp then cook it with 1 1/2 lbs. Scallops make the pasta really sweet, if you use only shrimp you might want to add a pinch of sugar. This is perfect with a side salad and some French bread.
